What Pelvic Floor Physical Therapy Actually Is
Most women have never been taught what their pelvic floor does, let alone how it can be treated. Pelvic floor physical therapy is the specialty branch of physical therapy that addresses dysfunction in the muscles, nerves, and connective tissue of the pelvis—and everything connected to it.
A good pelvic floor PT looks at more than the pelvic floor itself. Dr. Danaya assesses your back, hips, core, breathing, and movement patterns first—because the pelvic floor rarely fails on its own. It’s part of a system. When you treat the system, the symptoms resolve.
Pelvic floor PT is the first-line, evidence-based treatment for most of the conditions women are told to “just live with” or to consider surgery for. It works. And in Utah, it doesn’t require a referral.

Healing That Lasts
There’s a reason this practice is called Radiant.
Dr. Danaya named it after the glow she sees in patients reaching their goals—patients who arrived feeling like shadows of themselves and graduated physical therapy with a new zeal for life.
That’s what Radiant wants to do for you.
Dr. Danaya found pelvic floor PT during her own first postpartum recovery. After a few months of treatment, she was symptom-free—and realized that most women don’t even know this care exists. She chose pelvic floor PT because helping women heal doesn’t just help the woman—it changes the entire family.
She’s four-time postpartum herself. Former NCAA Division I track and field athlete. She’s lived the loss of physical identity her patients describe, and she’s walked the path back from it.
Her mission isn’t about helping women become who they were before. It’s about helping them move forward into a new chapter of their lives—fully, vibrantly, without symptoms holding them back. There is beauty in change and growth. Every woman deserves to feel it.
Treatment Areas
Pelvic Pain
Chronic pelvic pain affects one in seven women, but common doesn’t mean normal. Many women have been told their pain is “in their head” or that the only options are medication and surgery. Both can be wrong.
Our approach: Pelvic pain is rarely just one thing. Dr. Danaya assesses pelvic floor muscle tension, nerve sensitivity, organ mobility, scar tissue, and movement patterns. Treatment combines internal release work, dry needling for trigger points, visceral mobilization where indicated, and nervous system retraining. Most patients feel meaningful improvement within 4–6 sessions.
Painful Intimacy
Pain during sex has many possible causes—pelvic floor muscle guarding, tissue thinning, scar restriction, nerve sensitivity, or hormonal changes. It’s not something you have to live with.
Our approach: Treatment is gentle, patient-paced, and trauma-informed. Internal work is always optional and never required. We address muscle tension, scar mobility, tissue care, and the nervous system patterns that maintain protective guarding. For women with endometriosis or vaginismus, we coordinate care with your other providers—gynecologists, mental health therapists, and gastroenterologists when relevant.
Postpartum Recovery & 4th Trimester
The standard 6-week OB checkup is necessary, but being “cleared for all activities” doesn’t mean your body is rehabilitated. Beyond acute healing comes the work of rebuilding—and that’s where pelvic floor PT comes in.
Our approach: We treat diastasis recti with current evidence (not the outdated “never do crunches” rule), C-section scar mobilization and adhesion release, perineal tear recovery, return-to-exercise progression, and the leaking, heaviness, and weakness that you didn’t know was treatable. Whether you’re six weeks or fifteen years postpartum, recovery is possible.
Urinary Incontinence
The majority of women with stress incontinence see meaningful improvement with pelvic floor PT—at any age. Leaking when you cough, jump, run, or laugh is common, but it’s not just something you have to live with.
Our approach: Tailored treatment combining targeted strengthening of the pelvic floor, bladder retraining for urgency, postural and core integration, and modifications to the daily activities that may be making it worse.
Pelvic Organ Prolapse
Prolapse—when pelvic organs descend due to weakened support—is one of the most common reasons women are told they need surgery. It’s also one of the most responsive to conservative first-line treatment.
Our approach: We focus on strengthening the deep core and pelvic floor coordination, addressing the lifting and breathing mechanics that increase intra-abdominal pressure, and fitting pessaries in-house when supportive devices are appropriate. Many patients reach their goals without surgery; for those who eventually need surgical intervention, we prepare you for the best possible surgical outcome.
Return to Running & Sport
Postpartum athletes, women returning from injury, and competitive women all need more than the “you can do whatever you want” clearance most providers give. The transition from recovered to athletic requires specific work.
Our approach: Progressive return-to-impact programming, gait and form assessment, dry needling for muscle trigger points, strength integration for power generation, and pregnancy-specific modifications if you choose to keep training. Dr. Danaya’s own NCAA athletic background informs how she works with women who measure progress in PRs and finish lines.

Common Questions
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need a referral?
No. Utah is a Direct Access state. You can see a pelvic floor PT without a referral from your OB, primary care doctor, or any other provider.
Do you take insurance?
We don’t bill insurance directly, but we provide detailed superbills you can submit for out-of-network reimbursement. HSA and FSA cards work at the time of service.
How does in-home therapy actually work?
Dr. Danaya brings everything needed for a full clinical session to your home—professional treatment table, assessment tools, exercise equipment. You need a small open space (about 10x5 feet) and a nearby bathroom. Sessions run 60 minutes.
How many sessions will I need?
Depends on your condition. Many patients with straightforward concerns see significant improvement in 3–4 sessions. More complex or long-standing issues benefit from longer care. Dr. Danaya gives you a realistic timeline at your first visit.
Can I bring my baby or other kids?
Absolutely. In-home visits are designed around real life. Babies can nurse during sessions, toddlers can play, and we work around feeding and nap schedules.
Is internal pelvic floor assessment required?
Never required. Internal assessment is often the most precise way to evaluate pelvic floor muscle function, but it’s always your choice and always at your pace.
What if I’m years postpartum—is it too late?
It’s never too late. Many of Dr. Danaya’s patients are years or even decades postpartum and still see significant improvement.
Where do you serve?
Spanish Fork, Payson, Salem, Santaquin, Elk Ridge, Woodland Hills, Mapleton, Springville, and surrounding Utah Valley communities. If you’re nearby and unsure, just ask.
Ready to Start?
Most women wait years before getting the care that finally works.
You don’t have to. Talk through what you’re experiencing, ask questions about treatment, and find out whether Radiant is the right fit—no commitment.
