What to Expect

Full 60-minute sessions in your home—here’s exactly what happens from first visit to recovery.

Your First Visit (60 Minutes)

We start with your story. What brought you here? What are your symptoms? What are your goals?

Understanding your experience helps Dr. Danaya create a treatment plan specific to your body, your birth experience, and your symptoms—not a generic protocol.

Full Physical Assessment

Your first visit includes a thorough evaluation, which may include:

  • Posture and movement evaluation - How you stand, walk, and move affects pelvic floor function
  • Core and breathing mechanics - Breath patterns and core engagement directly impact the pelvic floor
  • Hip, back, and pelvic mobility - Joint restrictions can contribute to pelvic floor dysfunction
  • Pelvic floor muscle assessment - External and internal evaluation of muscle tone, strength, and coordination

About Internal Assessment

Internal pelvic floor assessment is often the most effective way to evaluate muscle tone, strength, and coordination—but it's always optional and entirely your choice. We move at your pace, and consent is always asked. External assessment and treatment are also valuable, and we respect your comfort level at every step.

You'll leave your first visit with:

  • A clear understanding of what's happening in your body
  • A treatment plan built around your specific goals
  • Home exercises or modifications to start immediately
  • Answers to your questions

Ongoing Treatment Sessions (60 Minutes)

Every session is tailored to your needs and progresses as your body responds to treatment.

Treatment May Include:

  • Manual therapy - Hands-on muscle, tissue, and fascial mobilization to release tension and restore mobility
  • Pelvic floor muscle training - Strengthening, coordination, or relaxation exercises depending on your needs
  • Scar massage - For C-section scars, perineal tears, or other surgical scars affecting function
  • Therapeutic exercise and strength training - Functional whole-body movement that supports pelvic health
  • Breathing, postural, and core retraining - Teaching your body new patterns that support healing
  • Education on daily activities, movement, and self-care - Practical guidance for your everyday life
  • Dry needling, cupping, or visceral manipulation - Advanced techniques for complex cases when appropriate

How Many Sessions Will I Need?

This depends on your condition and goals. Some patients are symptom-free in 3–4 sessions. Others with more complex or long-standing issues benefit from longer care. Dr. Danaya will give you a realistic timeline at your first visit and reassess regularly as you progress.

What We Bring to Your Home

Dr. Danaya arrives fully equipped with everything needed for a full evaluation and treatment:

  • Treatment table - Professional, adjustable table for comfortable assessment and treatment
  • Assessment supplies - All tools needed for thorough evaluation
  • Exercise equipment - Resistance bands, weights, stability tools, and more
  • Education materials - Visual aids, handouts, and resources tailored to your needs

All you need is a space where you feel comfortable—bedroom, living room, home gym, or anywhere with a bit of privacy and room for the treatment table.

What to Wear

Comfortable, loose-fitting clothing or athletic wear is best. For internal pelvic floor assessment (if you choose to include it), you'll need to undress from the waist down. We provide draping for privacy during all assessments and treatments.

Preparing for Your Session

To get the most out of your appointment:

  • Clear a space for the treatment table (about 7 feet by 3 feet)
  • Have a bathroom nearby and accessible
  • Bring any relevant medical records or imaging if you have them
  • Write down questions or symptoms you want to discuss
  • If postpartum, don't worry about tidying—we understand real life with a newborn

Your Children Are Welcome

In-home visits are designed with real life in mind. Your baby or children can be present during treatment. We work around feeding schedules, naps, and the realities of parenting. No need to arrange childcare or stress about being away from your family.
