About Pelvic Floor Physical Therapy
What is pelvic floor physical therapy?
Pelvic floor physical therapy is a specialized branch of physical therapy that addresses dysfunction in the pelvic floor muscles. These muscles support your bladder, uterus, and bowel, and play a key role in continence, core stability, sexual function, and overall comfort. Treatment may include manual therapy, pelvic floor training, therapeutic exercise, and education.
What conditions do you treat?
We treat a wide range of pelvic floor and related conditions including:
- Urinary incontinence (leaking with coughing, sneezing, or exercise)
- Pelvic organ prolapse
- Pelvic pain and painful intercourse
- Diastasis recti
- Postpartum recovery and pregnancy-related pain
- Hip and back pain and SI joint dysfunction
- Bladder pain and urgency
- Endometriosis-related pelvic floor issues
- Constipation and bowel dysfunction
- And more
Do I need a referral to see a pelvic floor physical therapist?
No. Utah is a Direct Access state, which means you can see a physical therapist without a referral from your doctor. You can call us directly or book a free consultation to get started.
Your Visits & Treatment
What happens during my first visit?
Your first visit is 60 minutes. We start by listening to your story—your symptoms, your history, and your goals. Then Dr. Danaya assesses everything that attaches to and affects the pelvis—posture, movement, core and breathing mechanics, hip and pelvic mobility, and pelvic floor muscle function.
You’ll leave with a clear understanding of what’s happening in your body, a treatment plan built around your goals, and home exercises to start immediately. Learn more about what to expect →
Is internal pelvic floor assessment required?
No. Internal assessment is often the most effective way to evaluate pelvic floor muscle tone, strength, and coordination, but it is always optional and entirely your choice. We move at your pace, consent is always asked, and external assessment and treatment are also valuable.
How many sessions will I need?
It depends on your condition and goals. Some patients are symptom-free in 3–4 sessions. Others with more complex or long-standing issues benefit from longer care. Dr. Danaya will give you a realistic timeline at your first visit and adjusts your plan as you progress.
What if I’m years postpartum—is it too late?
It is never too late. We regularly work with women who are months, years, or even decades past childbirth and still see significant improvement. Your body is always capable of change.
What should I wear to my appointment?
Wear comfortable clothing that allows easy movement—athletic wear, yoga pants, or loose-fitting clothes work great. Since sessions are in your home, you’re already in a comfortable environment.
In-Home Visits
How do in-home visits work?
Dr. Danaya comes to your home with everything needed for your session—a portable treatment table, equipment, and supplies. You don’t need to prepare anything special. In-home visits remove the stress of driving, finding childcare, and sitting in a waiting room, so you can focus entirely on your recovery.
Can I bring my baby to appointments?
Absolutely. In-home visits are designed with postpartum life in mind. Your baby—and any other children—are welcome.
What area do you serve?
We currently serve Spanish Fork, Payson, Salem, Santaquin, Elk Ridge, Woodland Hills, Mapleton, Springville, and surrounding Utah Valley communities. If you’re not sure whether you’re in our service area, reach out and we’ll let you know.
Pricing & Payment
How much does a session cost?
Both initial evaluations and follow-up sessions are full 60 minutes of one-on-one care with a board-certified specialist. We accept HSA and FSA cards, and we provide superbills so you can seek reimbursement from your insurance. Contact us for current pricing — we’re happy to walk you through everything during a free consultation.
Do you accept insurance?
We are a cash-based, out-of-network practice. This means you pay at the time of your visit and we provide a superbill (a detailed receipt with medical codes) that you can submit to your insurance company for potential reimbursement. Many patients receive partial reimbursement depending on their plan’s out-of-network benefits.
What is a superbill?
A superbill is a detailed receipt that includes your diagnosis codes, procedure codes, and payment information. You submit it to your insurance company to request reimbursement for out-of-network care. We provide one after every visit.
Do you accept HSA or FSA cards?
Yes. Pelvic floor physical therapy is an eligible medical expense, and we accept both HSA (Health Savings Account) and FSA (Flexible Spending Account) cards as payment.
Why cash-based instead of insurance?
Because insurance was getting in the way of good care. Dr. Danaya has worked in both insurance-based and cash-based settings, and she saw a pattern: insurance companies were dictating what treatments patients could receive. Reimbursement issues were creating barriers between patients and the care they actually needed.
Cash-based means those barriers are gone. Every session is a full 60 minutes. Treatment decisions are based on your body, your goals, and the best available evidence—not on what an insurance company will approve. Your care comes first. Always.
